The Southeast Concrete Masonry Association and the Masonry Association of Georgia, Inc. are pleased to host Masonry Special Inspection and Contractor Certification Workshops throughout the year.
Construction of masonry buildings is more than simply laying units. It requires a firm knowledge of the current Building Code requirements which are to be inspected for the local Code Agency to permit building occupancy. Life safety is thus insured in times of storms, earthquakes, and other catastrophic occurrences.
Attendees will cover the following topics: Code requirements for Special Inspection; Concrete masonry shapes, sizes, standards, tests; Clay masonry shapes, sizes, standards, tests; Mortar and grouting standards and tests; Reinforcing steel, anchors, and tie basics; Key inspection points during construction; Crack control best practices using control joints.
TWO DAY Program Format:
Day One - New Certification for GA Masonry Special Inspection; Clay Masonry, Reinforcing, Details, Georgia Exam for Masonry Special Inspection per DCA Georgia Amendments
Day Two - Re-certification for GA Masonry Special Inspection; Design Fundamentals, Cements, CMU’s, Mortars, Grouts, Review of Code Changes
